Building a Foundation of Support in Chicago, One Life at a Time

Some Chicagoans "Think Pink" every day of their lives -- Gail Pashup, Lori Ovitz, and Brian Blanchard are committed to increasing breast cancer awareness and making a difference in the lives of all cancer patients.

Gail raises awareness every day in a rather "concrete" way. Gail drives this pink cement truck (seen above) for Prairie Material. Inspired by a family member's diagnosis, John Christopher Oremus spearheaded the creation of this unique vehicular demonstration. Today, drivers compete for a position at the wheel, which has incited an order for an additional pink truck.

Lori assists those struggling with cosmetic changes caused by chemotherapy treatments. Her book, Facing the Mirror with Cancer, is a comprehensive guide to minimizing the visual impacts experienced by cancer patients of all ages and candidly examines the link between physical appearance and emotional well-being.

Brian is committed to minimizing the traumatic effects of hair loss on chemotherapy patients. Specializing in hair replication, Brian personally understands the positive emotional impact that hair replacement can have on a person's self-esteem. For the past 10 years Brian has applied his knowledge toward helping cancer patients at the Brian Blanchard Salon.

The "Think Pink" efforts being made by these three people are building a foundation of awareness, interest, and support for a better future for cancer patients.
